Two Time Olympian Mirabella to serve as Master of Ceremony

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Erin Mirabella, two-time Olympian, prestigious Jack Kelly Fair Play Award winner and author, will serve as Master of Ceremony for the 2007 International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) World Youth and Student Games. The Games are hosted by the U.S. Association of Blind Athletes (USABA), July 12 -16, in Colorado Springs, Colo. More than 200 blind and visually impaired youth athletes from 22 countries will compete in goalball and judo (Colorado College), swimming (US Olympic Training Center) and track and field at (St. Mary's Grace Center).
The Opening Ceremony for the festivities will kick-off with an Olympic style parade of nations, which will include hundreds of blind youth, Olympians, Paralympians, and Colorado Springs children on July 12, 6:30 pm at Colorado College Washburn Field. The ceremony will also feature a greeting by Mayor Lionel Rivera and a live rhythmic concert by Kissidugu, an exciting high-octane drum & dance troupe, with rarely seen high-flying Guinea "dun dun dancing" and explosive West African percussion. The Colorado Springs Police Cadet Explorers will serve as flag bearers and Hannah Elias, Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale will sing the national anthem. Patty Henderson and Eric Sova, singer/songwriters, will lead Camp Vision children in song. Tickets for the Opening Ceremony are still available. Spectator tickets can be purchased in advance. The public is invited to come out and welcome these athletes to Colorado Springs and enjoy the competitions - FREE admission.
