Mountain Bikers at World's Cup

Houffalize, Belgium —USA Cycling National Development Team members Sam Jurekovic (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Colin Cares (Boulder, Colo.) competed in the year’s first UCI Mountain Bike World Cup on April 22. The 2007 World Cup season kicked off Sunday in Belgium where Jurekovic finished 110th amongst more than 245 of the world’s best cross country riders.
Cares pushed hard through the challenging course, but was not able to finish on Sunday. Seven additional American men competed in the World Cup. Todd Wells (Durango, Colo./GT-Hyundai) turned in the fastest time of the U.S. contingent, placing 36th, 9:30 back from winner Jose Antonio Hermida of Spain.
The 2007 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series resumes on May 27th in Offenburg, Germany.
