10 Olympic Style Boxers Earn Berths for 2007 US Championships

Boxing: (May 12) Ten Olympic-style boxers earned 2007 U.S. Championships berths with victories in the final round of the 2007 Eastern Trials in Cocoa, Florida. Luis Rangel (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Derrick Wilson (Cincinnati, Ohio), Mark Davis (Cleveland, Ohio), Miguel Gonzalez (Cleveland, Ohio), Javier Molina (Commerce, Calif.), Jesse Lubash (Munhall, Pa.), Abraham Han (El Paso, Texas), Aleem Whitfield (Geneva, N.Y.), Joey Dawejko (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Kasim Howard (St. Augustine, Fla.) were all winners in their respective weight divisions. All of the 2007 Eastern Trials champions will advance to the 2007 U.S. Championships, June 2-8 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The top eight finishers in each weight class at the U.S. Championships will move on to the 2008 Olympic Team Trials. The final opportunity for boxers to qualify for the U.S. Championships will be the 2007 Western Trials, May 21-26 in Salt Lake City, Utah. For more information, log on to www.usaboxing.com.
