USBC, Ebonite team up to donate bowling balls to high schools in 11 states
By Mark Miller // U.S. Bowling Congress // May 25, 2007
The United States Bowling Congress and Ebonite International joined forces to make sure funding-challenged high school programs in 11 states received much needed bowling balls.
USBC coordinated the distribution of more than 1,600 bowling balls donated by Ebonite to high schools in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia and Wisconsin.
"We were very pleased to accept this donation and thankful for this charitable work by the Columbia 300 brand of Ebonite International, Inc.," said USBC Chief Officer - National Governing Body Kevin Dornberger. "Actually, we wish we had more warehouse space to accept even more balls and we hope to do more of this in the future."
"It's wonderful to see the ranks of today's high school programs growing exponentially each year," said Bob Reid, vice president of marketing for Ebonite International. "The problem with growth is the inevitable growing pains of needing funding for equipment, uniforms, coaches, tournaments and all the factors that are needed for a team to operate. It's our pleasure to use some of the product we inherited in our asset purchase of Columbia Industries to further support high school bowling through this partnership with USBC."
