USA SOFTBALL -Bustos Paces the Way to 16-0 Win Over Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala - Team USA handed host team Guatemala a 16-0 loss, edging its record to 5-0 at the Pan Am qualifier in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The team turned in 12 hits while the pitching staff gave up only one hit. Crystal Bustos once again led the offensive charge for the U.S. going 2-3 with a three-run homerun. Natasha Watley was 2-4 while Jessica Mendoza hit at a perfect clip of 3-3. Jamie Clark was 2-3 at the plate with Tony Mascarenas turning in three RBI, going 2-2. Jennie Ritter started on the mound going three innings and giving up one hit. Amanda Freed came in to pitch the final inning, giving up no hits. Next up for Team USA is Nicaragua tomorrow at 2 p.m. with playoff play beginning on Thursday and finals set for Saturday at 8 p.m. The ASA The Amateur Softball Association, founded in 1933, is the National Governing Body of softball in the United States and a member of the United States Olympic Committee.
