USA Shooting National Championships Conclude with National Titles in Mens Free Pistol, Air Rifle and Mens/Womens Trap

FORT BENNING, Ga. – The 2007 USA Shooting National Championships concluded today for rifle/pistol at Ft. Benning’s International Shooting Complex in Columbus, Ga., home of the U.S. Army Marksmanship (USAMU), while the shotgun portion of the competition wrapped up at Hill Country Shooting Sports Center in Kerrville, Texas.

The Men’s Free Pistol and Men’s Air Rifle finals were held at Ft. Benning, while the Men’s and Women’s Trap final matches took place for the conclusion of the shotgun event.

In the Men’s Free Pistol event, Jason turner captured the national title with a score of 1211.0, while USAMU member Daryl Szarenski finished second with 1206.5 and Dwaine Hurt took third with a total score of 1188.3. The National Championship title in Junior Men’s Free Pistol went to Sean Ragay, who finished with a total score of 1140. Tyler Imig took second with 1130.9 and Stephen Lutz finished in the third spot with 1123.9.

For Men’s Air Rifle, Ryan Tanoue won the national title with a score of 1284.0. USAMU member Jason Parker took second with 1281.5 and Matthew Rawlings finished in third with 1279.0. Thomas Csenge took first place for the juniors with a score of 1275.6, while Phillip Huckaby finished in second with 1273.7 and Jonathan Hall took third with 1271.3.

Joining the USA Shooting Men’s National Team from the Men’s Air Rifle Event are Tanoue, Parker, Rawlings and Matthew Wallace. Requalifying for the National Development Team are Csenge, Huckaby and Hall.

In the Men’s Trap event, Dominic Grazioli took the national title with a final score of 311, while Michael Herman finished second with 306 and John Mullins took third with 303. Mullins also took first place for the juniors with a 304. Richard Valdez took second for the junior trap men with a 302 and Wallace, Casey finished in third place with 299.

For Women’s Trap, Joetta Dement captured the national championship title with a score of 294. Molly Bender finished second with 286 and Corey Cogdell took third place with 285. Bender also finished in first place for the junior trap women with a score of 287. Tamara Desso took second for the juniors with 274, while, Breanna Heckenkamp finished third with 269.
