Margaux Isaksen Completes National Crown Sweep by Winning 2007 USA Pentathlon Youth National Championships in Roswell, N.M.
By Cecil Bleiker // U.S. Olympic Committee // July 3, 2007
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Only one person holds a USA Pentathlon National Championship title in the womens and girls divisions for the 2007 season and that person is fifteen year-old Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark./Colorado Springs, Colo.). Isaksen completed the National Championship sweep when she easily out-distanced the competition at the 2007 USA Pentathlon Youth National Championships in Roswell, N.M. Isaksen captured the USA Pentathlon Senior and Junior National Championship titles on June 10 in Colorado Springs.
At the youth level, a modern pentathlon consists of only four of the five traditional disciplines. Athletes compete in shooting, fencing, swimming and running. The riding event is not contested. Youth also compete in three separate divisions; A, B and C with the A division crowning the Youth National Champion. Isaksen posted an impressive total of 4,456 total modern pentathlon points in the four disciplines, easily defeating the silver medalist, Marisa Berger, who racked up a total of 3,400 total modern pentathlon points in the A division. Also on the girls side, Anna Olesinski (Roswell, N.M.) finished first in the B division with 3,808 total points, while Daelyn Chase was the top finisher in the C division with 3,436 total modern pentathlon points.
On the boys side, John Gibbons earned the title of USA Pentathlon Youth National Champion winning the A division with a total of 3,884 total modern pentathlon points. Nathan Schrimsher won the B division with 4,232 total modern pentathlon points, while his brother Lucas Schrimsher scored 3,896 to capture the C division title.
The 2007 USA Pentathlon Youth National Championships were hosted by the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M., June 29-30.
