Dennis Bowsher Finishes 16th and Niul Manske 27th in Finals of World Cup no.6 in Italy Womens Finals Tomorrow

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas/Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) and Niul Manske (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) finished 16th and 27th respectively in today’s men’s final of World Cup #6 in Rome, Italy. Bowsher scored a total of 5,272 total modern pentathlon points, while Manske posted a final score of 5,056 total modern pentathlon points. Please see below for individual event scores.
The USA Pentathlon Team performed exceptionally well in the semifinals of World Cup #6, placing five of eight athletes in the event finals. This World Cup stop marks the first stage of the 2008 Olympic Qualifying season. The Olympic qualifying season will go from now to the fifth World Cup stop of the 2008 season.
Fresh off of her second place semifinal performance, Michelle “Mickey” Kelly (Chatham, N.Y./Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) will lead her teammates Emily Shertzer (Hershey, Penn./Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Sheila Taormina (Livonia, Mich./Colorado Springs, Colo.) into tomorrow’s women’s final.
Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo./Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Air Force), Sam Sacksen (Somerset, Pa./Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Dierdre Matthews (Conifer, Colo.) failed to advance past the semifinal round of World Cup #6.
USA Pentathlon coaches for World Cup #6 are Janusz Peciak (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Pentathlon’s Fencing/International Modern Pentathlon Coach and Michael Cintas (Rancho Mirage, Calif.) as the riding coach.
