Volmar and Turner Win Bronze in Cuba

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Adler Volmar (Coral Springs, Fla. / USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami / 100kg) and Anthony Turner (Miami, Fla. / USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami / +100kg) both won bronze medals at the Jose Ramon Rodriguez International Tournament in Havana, Cuba on Friday.
The tournament, a USA Judo Senior B-Level, acted as a preview for the Pan American Championships, May 24-27 in Montreal, Canada. One of the most prestigious tournaments in the Americas, this event included top competitors from throughout South America, including Brazil as well as Cuba who fielded as many as four or five players per division.
Nina Cutro-Kelly (San Antonio, Texas / Universal Judo / 78kg) fought for bronze, but finished fifth in the women’s event – Golden Judoguis.
Volmar and Turner’s medals bring the total for Team USA to six bronze medals during the two-day event.
The 20-member team will stay in Havana for an international training camp through May 4.

Women +78kg: Brittni Bradford (Live Oak, Texas / Universal Judo)
