Team USA Heads to Pan American Games

Indianapolis, Ind. – Later this month, the United States Synchronized Swimming National Team will leave training in the San Francisco Bay area to head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2007 Pan American Games. For the first time in the sport of synchronized swimming, the Pan Am Games will serve as the qualifier for the Olympic Games. Team USA must bring home gold medals in order to secure an Olympic berth.
With the increased importance placed on the Pan American Games, the United States hand picked its team in April of 2007, marking the first 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for any sport.
The synchronized swimming competition will include both the team and duet events and will run from July 25-28. The competition schedule is as follows:

United States Synchronized Swimming (USSS) serves as the National Governing Body for the sport of synchronized swimming, appointed as such by the United States Olympic Committee. USSS is a membership-based and non-for-profit organization which services the sport from the grass roots level to the National Team. The mission statement of USSS is "to provide leadership and resources for the promotion and growth of synchronized swimming, to achieve competitive excellence at all levels and to develop broad based participation."
