First 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Named

Indianapolis, Ind. – United States Synchronized Swimming (USSS) announced the athletes nominated to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, April 28 in Indianapolis at the IU Natatorium. USSS became the first National Governing Body to announce its 2008 U.S. Olympic Team.
The announcement featured dinner and an exhibition, marking the first performance conducted as a team. WNBA All-Star and 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Tamika Catchings, served as the keynote speaker. Musical accompaniment was provided by the world-renowned United States Army's Symphony Orchestra.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the 2008 U.S. Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team, the IU Herron School of Art and Tamika Catchings' Catch the Stars Foundation.
Athletes nominated to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team for Synchronized Swimming include: Brooke Abel (Fallbrook, Calif.), Janet Culp (Littleton, Colo.), Kate Hooven (Pleasanton, Calif.), Christina Jones (Fremont, Calif.), Becky Kim (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Meghan Kinney, (Mission Viejo, Calif.) Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.), Annabelle Orme (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Jillian Penner (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Probst (Troy, N.Y.).

United States Synchronized Swimming (USSS) serves as the National Governing Body for the sport of synchronized swimming, appointed as such by the United States Olympic Committee. USSS is a membership-based and non-for-profit organization which services the sport from the grass roots level to the National Team. The mission statement of USSS is "to provide leadership and resources for the promotion and growth of synchronized swimming, to achieve competitive excellence at all levels and to develop broad based participation."
