U.S. National Championships Make Waves In Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Ind. – The 2007 Synchronized Swimming U.S. National Championships kicked off today at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis with the free preliminary competition. The event runs through April 28 and features elite athletes vying for national titles in the solo, duet and team events in the nation's most prestigious synchronized swimming competition. The 2007 U.S. National Championships mark the 62nd year of national competition in the duet and team events and the 58th year of solo competition.
Today's free routine scores will be combined with Friday's technical preliminary scores to determine the qualifiers who will advance to finals. The IUPUI Natatorium is no stranger to U.S. Synchronized Swimming. The facility has played host to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials (1984, 1988, 1996), the FINA World Cup (1985), the U.S. National Championships (1996) and the Esynchro Age Group Championships (2004).
The naming of the athletes nominated to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team for Synchronized Swimming will take place on Saturday evening at the Natatorium. United States Synchronized Swimming (USSS) will be the first National Governing Body to announce its Olympic Team. Team USA will be introduced at 'Evening With an Olympian' and will perform an exhibition beginning at 6:00 p.m. The last chance to purchase tickets for the event will be on Friday.
