Disher rink wins St. Paul Cashspiel

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) - Craig Disher's team from North Dakota captured the 2007 St. Paul Cashspiel this afternoon with a 7-4 win over Trevor Clifford of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
With the win, Disher (Rolla, N.D.) and teammates Kevin Kakela (Rolla, N.D.), Zach Jacobson (Langdon, N.D.) and Carey Kakela (St. John, N.D.) netted $5,000 from this World Curling Tour event and finished with a perfect 7-0 record.
Disher's team started strong against the Ontario team scoring two in the first end and building a 4-1 lead after four ends. The North Dakota squad limited the offense of the Canadians and capitalized on a big three-ender late in the game to seal the victory.
A total of 32 teams entered the cashspiel event. The other American semifinalist team - the Craig Brown rink of Madison, Wis., -- lost in the semifinals to win $2,000.
