Bobsled and Skeleton World Cup Action

PARK CITY, Utah— World Cup bobsled and skeleton action will continue at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah this week. The second World Cup event of the 2007-08 season will take place from Thursday, Dec. 6 through Saturday, Dec. 8.

Women’s skeleton will kick off the second World Cup stop on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 9am- 11:30 am MST. Men’s skeleton will follow from 1pm- 3:30pm.

Competing for the women will be defending World Cup Champion Katie Uhlaender (Breckenridge, Colo,), 2007 America’s Cup Champion Annie O’Shea (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), and Courtney Yamada (Boise, Idaho). World Championship silver medalist Eric Bernotas (Avondale, Pa.), defending World Cup Champion Zach Lund (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Caleb Smith (Lake Placid, N.Y.) will compete for the men.

Women’s bobsled will take place from 2pm- 4:30pm on Friday, Dec. 7, with men’s two-man bobsled from 6pm- 8:30pm.

Olympic silver medalists Shauna Rohbock (Orem, Utah) and Valerie Fleming (Foster City, Calif.) will continue their quest for the overall title, while Erin Pac (Farmington, Conn.) will team with rookie Elana Meyers (Douglasville, Calif.) in the hunt for medals.

Defending World Cup Champion Steven Holcomb (Park City, Utah) will look to better his silver medal performance last week with brakeman Curt Tomasovicz (Shelby, Neb.) in Calgary, Alberta. John Napier (Schenectady, N.Y.) will pilot USA II while Mike Kohn (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) receives therapy on his hamstring with hopes to return to competition at the next World Cup stop in Lake Placid, N.Y. Driver Stephan Bosch (Park City, Utah) will pilot USA III, seeking a podium finish on his home track.

Competition will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 8 with men’s four-man bobsled from 3pm- 5:30pm.

Holcomb’s team of Brock Kreitzburg (Akron, Ohio), Pavle Jovanovic (Tom’s River, N.J.) and Steve Mesler (Calgary, Alberta) will defend their gold medal performance last week in Calgary. Bosch will look to improve his results on his home track with his push crew of Chuck Berkeley (Clayton, Calif.) Chris Fogt (Apline, Utah) Theron Johnson (Wheaton, Md.), while Napier will team with Jamie Moriarty (Winnetka, Ill.) TJ Burns (Blue Bell, Pa.) and Steve Langton (Melrose, Mass.).
