World Luge Championships on SportsNet New York

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Torino Olympians Tony Benshoof (White Bear Lake, Minn.), Erin Hamlin (Remsen, N.Y.) and Courtney Zablocki (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) will lead the U.S. luge team into the 39th World Luge Championships in Igls, Austria. Fans can catch all the action from the 1976 Olympic luge track on SportsNet New York, beginning Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m. Eastern, with men’s singles racing. The one-hour shows are being produced by Carr-Hughes Productions (Greenfield Center, N.Y.).
The men’s singles race, presented by Allianz, USA Luge’s Official Insurance Company, will also be re-broadcast Sunday, March 11, at 5 p.m. Eastern, Monday, March 12, at 1 p.m. Eastern and Tuesday, March 13, at 12-midnight Eastern.
The women’s singles race, presented by Team Worldwide, USA Luge’s Official Cargo Carrier, is scheduled for Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m. Eastern, with re-broadcasts set for Sunday, March 18, at 5 p.m. Eastern and Monday, March 19, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern. The final re-broadcast of the women’s singles event is slated for Tuesday, March 20, at 12-midnight Eastern.
More than 50 men and 35 women are expected to compete on the 1,220-meter long, 14-curve course. Igls has also hosted the 1977, 1987 and 1997 World Luge Championships.
