Teleconferences Set with Lysacek and Meissner to Preview 2007 World Figure Skating Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 8, 2007) – Teleconferences have been set for Wednesday, March 14, and Thursday, March 15, to preview the 2007 World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo, Japan, March 19-25. World bronze medalist Evan Lysacek will be available at 12:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 14. World champion Kimmie Meissner will be available at 1:15 p.m. EST on Thursday, March 15.

Lysacek won his first U.S. title at the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Wash., in January. At the event he cleanly landed his first quad toe-triple toe combination jump, an element that received all positive marks from the judges and amassed more than 15 points. He set the all-time U.S. scoring record at the event with 248.88 points. Lysacek went on to land a second quad-triple at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo., in February. He won the event and set his international personal best with a total score of 226.27.

Meissner also won her first U.S. title at the 2007 U.S. Championships, landing a triple-triple combination jump in both the short program and free skate. She finished with a score of 181.68. She went on to win the gold medal at the Four Continents Championships with 172.75 points, despite being in sixth place after the short program. She landed a triple-triple in the free skate, marking the fourth event of the season in which she has landed the difficult element.

The World Championships begin Tuesday, March 20, with the compulsory dance. The men’s event begins Wednesday with the short program, and the ladies event begins with Friday’s short program.
