Getting Started in Curling
A Junior Merit program is available to member clubs for their youth curling programs. The five-level program measures achievement at each stage by testing junior curlers' knowledge of the sport and on-ice skills. Youth are awarded colored bars (red, blue, bronze, silver, and gold) for their curling jackets at each merit level.
Four junior curling camps are held annually. The camps help junior curlers increase their knowledge of the sport and improve their fundamental skills, and also serve to help identify future Olympic talent. Four adult camps are offered each fall at various locations to help recreational curlers get ready for the season. This year, a camp for curlers seeking a more competitive atmosphere also is being offered.

Joining USA Curling
You must be a member of USA Curling to participate in Championship events. Membership also provides liability insurance for your club.
Becoming a U.S. Olympian
One men’s and one women’s team consisting of five players was nominated to represent the USA in the 2006 Olympic Games. Teams entered a 2005 playdown competition, which began in December 2004, and lead to the trials in February 2005, at the Madison Curling Club, Madison, Wisconsin. The winning men’s and women’s trials teams were selected by the USCA and nominated to the USOC as the 2006 Olympic Winter Games Team for Curling and will also represent the USA in the 2005 Men’s and Women’s World Curling Championships.
